- 2 Cups masa harina
- Pinch of salt
- 1 1/2 cup of warm water
- 1 cup grated cheese: Perla Cheese, Quesillo
Combine the masa harina, salt and water in a mixing bowl. Knead to form a smoooth, moist dough with a playdough-like consistency. If the mixture is too dry, add more water, add more masa harina, one teaspoon at a time. Cover the bowl with a clean towel and let stand for 10 minutes.
Then make a thic tortilla shape with the dough and add your Perla Cheese or Quesillo in the middle, make a ball covering the filling and then form again a thic tortilla shape to form the pupusa. Place the pupusa on a hot pan with just a little of oil and let it cook for some minutes, don’t let the dough to toast.
